An honest word on what this can and cannot do

No web application can truly prevent a screenshot. Any browser-based tool claiming otherwise is overselling, and you should be suspicious of one that does. The operating system owns the screen, and a phone camera pointed at a monitor defeats every software control ever written. What screen protection actually does is remove the easy paths — right-click saving, drag-and-drop of images, text selection and copy, and the print shortcut — so casual copying takes deliberate effort rather than a reflex. The real deterrent is the second half: pairing it with a watermark that identifies the person viewing. We'd rather tell you that plainly than have you discover it after a leak.

What's actually enforced

Right-click disabled

No context menu, so no "Save image as" and no "Print".

Text selection off

The document can't be highlighted and copied out as text.

Drag-and-drop blocked

Images can't be dragged out of the viewer into a folder or a chat window.

Downloads off by default

Every link starts with downloads disabled. You enable them per recipient when you mean to.

Visible notice

Viewers are told the document is protected. Knowing you're being watched is a stronger deterrent than any technical control.

The part that actually works: identify the viewer

Combine screen protection with a [dynamic watermark](/dynamic-watermark) and every page carries the reader's own email address. If a screenshot does get taken — by phone, by OS shortcut, by anything — the image identifies who took it. Deterrence through attribution is the only approach that survives contact with a determined viewer, and it's the one that changes behaviour.

Layer it properly

For genuinely sensitive material, protection is a stack rather than a switch: 1. [NDA gate](/nda-gate) — they agree before they see it 2. Email or one-time-code verification — you know who they are 3. [Dynamic watermark](/dynamic-watermark) — every page names them 4. Screen protection — casual copying takes effort 5. Expiry and view caps — access ends when the process does 6. [Analytics](/document-analytics) — you see exactly what was viewed

No — and neither can any other web-based tool. The operating system controls the screen, and a phone camera bypasses software entirely. Screen protection removes the easy copying paths; per-viewer watermarking is what makes a leak traceable.
