Make a link expire, or limit how many times it can be viewed

Two independent limits on the same card — set either one, both, or neither. Once a limit is hit, the link simply stops working.

1

Open your link's settings

Go to your document, then click Create Link (or edit an existing link).

2

Find "Expiration & Limits"

It's its own card, right below Access Control. Both fields are empty by default, meaning no limit.

3

Set an expiry date, a max view count, or both

Expiry Date — the link stops working after this date. Max Views — the link stops working once it's been opened this many times.

4

Save your link

Click Create Link (or Save) at the bottom of the page like normal.

Good to know

  • Max Views counts every open, including your own — check the link yourself and it uses one view.
  • An expired or view-capped link shows the visitor a plain "this link is no longer available" message — the document itself is never deleted.
  • You can edit or remove either limit at any time by editing the link again.
  • Available on every plan, including Lite.
